Dow Jones logs cautious gains as inflation fears ebb

U.S. stocks opened slightly higher on Friday as inflation data calmed concerns over a possible long-term spike in consumer prices, while investors looked to next week’s Federal Reserve meeting for more cues on monetary policy.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 75.29 points, or 0.22%, in early deals to 34,541.53.

The S&P 500 gained 6.28 points, or 0.15 per cent, to 4,245.46.

The Nasdaq Composite climbed 22.70 points, or 0.16%, to 14,043.03.
