LICENSED market traders should not fear enforcement operations as long as they adhered to Covid-19 standard operating procedure.

Ipoh city councillor Tony Khoo said he received complaints from traders that some enforcement officers had stopped them from operating.

“They also fear getting compounded for not following the SOP.

“This is stopping some of them from opening their stalls,” he said when met at the Taman SPPK morning market in Ipoh.

Khoo said only half of the 20 morning market traders had reopened.

“I urge all traders to resume business,” he said, adding that they had nothing to fear as long as they followed the rules.

During his visit, Khoo gave out 200 Covid-19 RTK Antigen test kits to traders.

“I hope the traders will do a self-test every fortnight.

“This will reassure market-goers who will have more confidence to shop here,” he said.

Khoo said the morning market, situated outside the wet market, resumed operations on Sept 24.
