Dow's 175-point drop led by losses in Visa, Verizon Communications Inc. stocks

Shares of Visa and Verizon Communications Inc. are trading lower Monday afternoon, sending the Dow Jones Industrial Average into negative territory. The Dow DJIA, -0.72% was most recently trading 177 points (0.5%) lower, as shares of Visa V, -2.21% and Verizon Communications Inc. VZ, -2.03% have contributed to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday decline. Visa’s shares have fallen $4.70 (2.0%) while those of Verizon Communications Inc. are down $1.02 (1.9%), combining for an approximately 38-point drag on the Dow. JPMorgan Chase JPM, -2.07%, Goldman Sachs GS, -1.89%, and Walt Disney DIS, -1.82% are also contributing significantly to the decline. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the index results in a 6.58-point swing.
