Midland Dow, Saginaw Nouvel and Chesaning will carry the Saginaw-area tennis banner when the Michigan high school tennis state finals begin Friday.
Dow won its 13th consecutive regional title, claiming every flight and finishing with a perfect 24 score in the Division 2 regional at Dow. The team advances to the Division 2 state finals Friday and Saturday at Holland. Traverse City Central finished second with 13 points.
Dow regional champions included Austin King (No. 1 singles), Joaquin Argibay (No. 2 singles), Nimai Patel (No. 3 singles), Logan Yu (No. 4 singles), Thomas Ladwein-Aaron Li (No. 1 doubles), Roofy Elsaadany-Boaz Qiu (No. 2 doubles), Vishagen Karthikayan-Shubhan Nagarkar (No. 3 doubles) and Michael McGaugh-Jonathan Song (No. 4 doubles).
In Division 4, Saginaw Nouvel won a regional title with 22 points, with Chesaning (19) and Sandusky (18) also qualifying as teams. The Division 4 state finals are Friday and Saturday in Ann Arbor.
Giorgio Fabiano in No. 2 singles and Brady Vance in No. 4 singles claimed regional titles for Saginaw Nouvel, while Frankenmuth’s Robert Brown won a regional title at No. 3 singles.
Chesaning was led by the No. 3 doubles team of Jackson Theil and Alex Marzluft, which claimed a regional title. Bullock Creek also claimed a regional title in No. 4 doubles behind Andrew Whittington and Bryce Herron.
