Dow jumps 100 points on gains for Intel, Caterpillar shares

Shares of Intel and Caterpillar are trading higher Wednesday morning, lifting the Dow Jones Industrial Average into positive territory. Shares of Intel INTC, +4.81% and Caterpillar CAT, +1.33% are contributing to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, +0.20% was most recently trading 102 points, or 0.3%, higher. Intel’s shares are up $2.53 (4.8%) while those of Caterpillar have gained $4.85 (2.2%), combining for an approximately 49-point boost for the Dow. Walt Disney DIS, +2.03%, Boeing BA, +1.75%, and Walmart WMT, +2.56% are also contributing significantly to the gain. A $1 move in any of the index’s 30 components equates to a 6.59-point swing.
