Dow's 63-point drop led by losses in shares of UnitedHealth, Merck

Shares of UnitedHealth and Merck are trading lower Wednesday afternoon, sending the Dow Jones Industrial Average into negative territory. The Dow DJIA, +0.20% was most recently trading 63 points (0.2%) lower, as shares of UnitedHealth UNH, -2.66% and Merck MRK, -3.09% are contributing to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday decline. UnitedHealth’s shares are off $16.10, or 3.0%, while those of Merck are down $2.27 (2.5%), combining for an approximately 121-point drag on the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the decline are Procter & Gamble PG, -1.63%, IBM IBM, -1.68%, and Verizon Communications Inc. VZ, -2.09%. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the index results in a 6.59-point swing.
