May, Gracer shoot personal-best scores for Chargers

July 22, 2022

Dow High’s Cole Bailey finished in the top 40 among over 1,700 competitors recently at the USA High School Clay Target League National Championship in Mason, Mich.

Bailey hit 196 out of 200 clay targets in the two-day event, including 75 consecutive targets in the finals while competing against shooters from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota.

“Hard work is paying off for Cole. He puts in the extra time and effort needed to reach this level of competition,” said Dow coach Tim Chisholm.

In addition, Carson May shot a personal-best score of 91 out of 100 for the Chargers on the first day of competition, while Marco D’Alessandro shot 90 out of 100, and Luke Gracer shot a personal-best 83 out of 100, also in the first round.

“I’m happy with the progress that Carson, Marco, and Luke made this year. These scores don’t happen without putting in the extra effort and ongoing practice,” said Chisholm. “I can’t wait to see what next year brings for these athletes.”
