“Leave It To Beaver” actor Tony Dow is alive, despite a post to his official page Tuesday that shared news of his passing.

According to a statement released around 4:30 p.m., Dow’s wife Lauren, “who was very distraught,” notified Dow’s team that he had passed and asked that the team notify his fans.

However, since that time, Dow’s daughter-in-law called to confirm that while he is “not doing well, he has not yet passed.”

Dow’s son and daughter-in-law have been by his side while in hospice care, comforting him, according to the post.

“As we are sure you can understand, this has been a very trying time for her,” the post said of Dow’s wife.

As recently as July 20, a post shared that he had been in and out of the hospital with complications and treatments for cancer. The page shared on May 5 that his cancer had returned and that the diagnosis was “truly heartbreaking.”

The actor played Wally Cleaver on the iconic sitcom from 1957 to 1963 and returned to the character in the 80s on “The New Leave It to Beaver.”

He continued acting through 2016 but also spent time directing various shows from the late 80s until 2000, according to IMDB.
