Donald Trump is setting the record straight.
As the President of the United States, 79, continues to revamp the White House, Fox News’ Laura Ingraham stopped by 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for a segment on her talk show, The Ingraham Angle.
In a preview clip shared to social media on Tuesday, November 11, Trump took the TV presenter for a tour around the Oval Office, where he proudly showed off the new gold detailing on the walls.

“You know the one thing with gold? You can’t imitate gold, real gold. There’s no paint that imitates gold,” Trump told Ingraham, to which she asked: “So these aren’t, like, from Home Depot?”

Rumors began to swirl after the president began showing off his new additions to the historic building, including all of the extravagant gold applique on the Oval Office walls. Social media users were quick to point out that some of the pieces resemble a polyurethane applique on Home Depot’s website that is sold for just over $58.
In response to Ingraham’s burning question, Trump firmly replied, “No, this is not Home Depot stuff. This is not Home Depot.”
According to Inside Edition, the gold accents were created by cabinet maker John Icart, who also decorated Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.

“It becomes more and more beautiful with love — you know, we handle it with great love — and 24-karat gold,” Trump said in the Inside Edition clip. “That always helps, too.”
In the caption of Ingraham’s post, she wrote, “In the Oval Office with President Trump and can confirm that it is REAL gold!”

However, some people in the comments section are still not convinced.
“Looks like Home Depot to me,” one person wrote, while another simply said: “That s**t looks tacky as hell.”
In a statement to Newsweek, White House spokesperson Davis R. Ingle said in part, “President Trump is making the White House beautiful and giving it the glory it deserves.”
