Dow opens higher as stocks head for best month in a year

Trading volume was low, as is usually the case during post-Thanksgiving trading, while millions of Americans participated in Black Friday shopping.

The S&P 500 was up 9 points, or 0.2%, at 6,009.

The Dow was up by 165 points, or 0.4%, at 44,884.

The Nasdaq Composite climbed 21 points, or 0.1%, at 19,082.
