everal business groups and investors have inked agreements on developing golf courses in Nusantara, according to Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani.
“There are some [companies] opening golf courses, they have signed [agreements]. There are three to four [investors] who will open golf courses,” Rosan said on Tuesday following a press conference on third-quarter investment realization, according to online media Kumparan.
Alongside public facilities like hospitals and schools, the golf courses are among the entertainment facility development projects set to break ground in the future capital, including restaurants and sports venues.
The government has touted Nusantara as a “city for all”, emphasizing its inclusiveness of all Indonesians, regardless of income level.
The Nusantara Capital City (IKN) mega project has drawn flak from analysts who are concerned it is veering toward private luxury developments at the expense of inclusivity, saying that the facilities built so far are not intended for ordinary citizens.
At least two major local developers, Ciputra Group and PT Intiland Development, have announced plans to build golf courses.
Through its subsidiary PT Citra Kotabaru Nusantara, Ciputra plans to build an integrated area comprising residential properties, hotels, a golf course, a botanical garden and venues for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE).
