There will be less trading action than usual this week. The stock market will be closed on Thursday for Thanksgiving, and only be open between 9.30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Eastern Time on Black Friday.
While some investors’ thoughts will already be turning to turkeys and pumpkin pies, history suggests there could be some gains for equities between now and Nov. 28.
The S&P 500 has risen 69% of the time in Thanksgiving week since 1950, according to Dow Jones Market Data. The benchmark gauge has climbed 0.7% on average.
