Victim lost $35,900 in bitcoin scam: Chagrin Falls police blotter

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio

Theft: Pheasant Run

A resident reported a $35,900 theft at 2 p.m. June 6 through a phone and computer scam involving fraudulent bitcoin deposits.

A report was filed for documentation purposes.

Traffic stop: Church Street

Stopped by police at 11:38 a.m. June 2 for a vehicle registration check, a Rocky River woman, 40, turned out to have an active warrant with police in that city.

The Chagrin Falls officer arrested her and transferred her to Rocky River police, who met them in Garfield Heights.

Assistance: Maple Street

Dispatched on a report of family trouble between a mother and son at 7:57 p.m. June 6, officers took statements from both.

The villager prosecutor reviewed the case and ruled that no charges would be filed at this time.

Warrant service: East Washington Street

Police stopped a driver at 4:34 p.m. June 4 for driving with a suspended license.

While identifying the occupants, the officer found that both the driver and passenger were wanted in other jurisdictions.

Police cited the driver, a Cleveland man, 27, for driving under suspension and arrested him for the Shaker Heights authorities. He was taken to the Solon Jail.

Officers advised the passenger and owner of the vehicle to clear her warrant with Cleveland Heights police before releasing her.
