Two teams that started off the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup with strong wins look to stay undefeated on Friday night, as Guatemala takes on Panama.
Panama showed its goal-scoring prowess in its first match of the tournament this past Monday. Going up against a much smaller Guadeloupe team, the Latin American squad filled the goal, running away with a 5-2 victory.

Guatemala surprisingly is entering Friday night as an unbeaten squad. Going up against a favored Jamaican team on Monday, Guatemala snuck away with a 1-0 win.
Panama came into this year’s event with expectations earned, thanks to its recent performances on the international stage. In 2023, Los Canaleros made it to the Gold Cup Final for the first time in two decades, losing to Mexico. Panama followed that up by beating the United States in the CONCACAF Nations League semifinals before losing to La Tri again in the final.
Guatemala is trying to build off its most recent performance at the Gold Cup, losing in the quarterfinals for the first time in 12 years in 2023, resulting in a fifth-place finish.
Panama is 19-10-13 against Guatemala, including a win during the group stage of the 2023-24 CONCACAF Nations League season.
