USMNT vs. Mexico score: Live updates from Gold Cup final as El Tri takes a late 2-1 lead behind Edson Alvarez

The United States men’s national team is the only thing standing in the way of Mexico as El Tri look to lift three consecutive Concacaf titles as they meet in the Gold Cup final on Sunday. While missing key regulars like Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie, and Florian Balogun, Mauricio Pochettino has guided the USMNT to his first final and he’ll have a chance to lift his first trophy as manager of the USMNT, but he’ll need players like Diego Luna and Malik Tillman to continue their hot form in order to do that.

Mexico haven’t allowed a goal in their last four matches of the Gold Cup so the USMNT will be up against it trying to score in Houston, but these are moments when Pochettino will see what he has in his squad. Facing their top rivals with a trophy on the line is a moment that needs no motivation.
