BAY CITY, MI – The Dow Bay Area Family YMCA’s pool area is set to close for several weeks to allow for the installation of a new water slide.
The pool area (natatorium) is set to close for six weeks beginning Dec. 2 to accommodate the scale of the project and ensure the safety of everyone who utilizes the facility, according to a statement posted on the organization’s website.
The installation of the slide is a necessary upgrade for the facility, located at 225 Washington Ave. in Bay City, according to Dow Bay Area Family YMCA CEO Steve Krankota.
“Thank you for your patience and excitement as we make these improvements,” Krankota said in a statement. “We can’t wait to welcome you back to have even more fun and memories, especially with the new slide!”
Although the pool will be closed, Dow Bay Area Family YMCA members can utilize the Saginaw Family YMCA for free through the YMCA’s Nationwide Membership program. The Saginaw YMCA is located at 1915 Fordney St. in Saginaw.
Additionally, Delta College will open its pool to Dow Bay Area Family YMCA members at no cost for the duration of the project. Members will be able to swim laps and take part in any classes taking place in the pool, located at 1961 Delta Road in Frankenlust Township.
To access the pool, members can tell staff at the college’s fitness desk about their membership with the YMCA. A list of YMCA members will be available for the staff at the desk.
Questions or comments regarding the project can be directed to Krankota, who can be contacted by calling 989-778-3447 or via email at skrankota@ymcabaycity.org.
