TMZ, the show business site that earlier received a possible ransom note, reported that it had seen activity in the account for the first time since the kidnap drama unfolded. But the outlet declined to reveal the amount.

Citing an unidentified source, People later reported it was just “hundreds of dollars.” KGUN, a Tucson station that also received the same ransom note that reportedly contained salient details of Guthrie’s home, noted that the transaction was “less than $300.”

The amount was a trifle compared to the $6 million requested by an alleged kidnapper to be delivered by Feb. 9 if the first deadline was not met. Both deadlines apparently came and went. “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie and her siblings have expressed a willingness to pay the kidnapper while pleading for their mother’s return.

In addition, a man was detained and reportedly released in connection with the case while authorities conducted a search of a property in Rio Rico, Arizona, about 60 miles from Nancy Guthrie’s Tucson-area home.
