Dow Jones Today | US Stock Market LIVE Updates: Stock futures declined at the start of the week on Monday (March 9) as US oil prices crossed $100 a barrel, raising concerns about a stagflationary environment marked by rising inflation and slowing economic growth in the United States. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is coming off its biggest weekly decline in nearly a year.

Futures linked to the Dow fell 595 points, or 1.25%, trimming earlier losses that had exceeded 1,000 points. S&P 500 futures dropped 1.1%, while Nasdaq 100 futures declined 1.2%. The Cboe Volatility Index moved above the 30 level for the first time since the tariff-driven market sell-off in April last year.

Oil prices spiked near $120 per barrel before falling back on Monday as the Iran war intensified, threatening production and shipping in the Middle East and pummeling financial markets. The price for a barrel of Brent crude, the international standard, surged to $119.50 per barrel early in the day but later was trading near $105 per barrel. West Texas Intermediate, the light, sweet crude oil produced in the United States, spiked at $119.48 per barrel but fell back to $102 per barrel.
