Stock market holiday: Markets to remain shut for Shri Mahavir Jayanti.

  • Stock markets closed on March 31 for Shri Mahavir Jayanti.
  • Markets also shut on April 3 for Good Friday.
  • MCX closed morning session, resumes evening trading on March 31.

The stock markets will remain closed on Tuesday on account of Shri Mahavir Jayanti, resulting in a shortened trading week.

Trading activity will be further curtailed with additional holiday lined up this week. Markets will remain shut on April 3 for Good Friday. With weekends also non-trading days, the period will result in a long holiday stretch for investors.

After Good Friday, the next market holiday will fall on April 14 for Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti, followed by Maharashtra Day on May 1 and Bakri Id on May 28.

MCX Stock Market Holiday for Shri Mahavir Jayanti 2026

The multi commodity exchange (MCX) will be closed only for the morning session between 9-5 pm, while it will resume normal trading in the commodity market for its evening session between 5-11:30 /11:55 pm.
