Caleb Williams knows football. And futbol.
The former Heisman Trophy winner and No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft has joined an investor group for the Boston Legacy Football Club, which will kick off its inaugural season in the National Women’s Soccer League next year.
In a statement released by the soccer club, the Chicago Bears quarterback and founder of investment firm 888 Midas said he is “excited” to help launch the NWSL’s 15th franchise.

“Women’s sports is a movement, and I admire and respect the work that the team and the NWSL continues to do to grow the sport and empower future generations of athletes,” Williams said. “Boston Legacy Football Club is building something special, and we’re proud to be a part of what’s next.”
Founded by Williams and others in 2024, 888 Midas is a platform for athlete and advisor-led investing, saying that is is focused on cultural relevance.
BLFC owner Jennifer Epstein said Williams’ investment in the club “highlights the powerful momentum of women’s professional soccer and what it means to have professional athletes investing in our future.”
Williams is the latest in a list of big-name investors involved with BLFC, including Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, actress Elizabeth Banks, Boston Celtics general manager Brad Stevens and WNBA star Aliyah Boston.
The NWSL itself has also attracted a host of big-name investors — Peyton Manning, Alexis Ohanian, Natalie Portman, Patrick Mahomes, Lindsey Vonn and James Harden are among the celebrities who have ownership stakes in teams across the league — which is unsurprising since the league changed its rules in 2024 to allow private equity firms to take majority control of teams.
“(Williams’ investment in BLFC) symbolizes a new era of cross-league support and recognition,” Epstein said. “With best-in-class athletes, a rapidly growing fan base, and undeniable energy around the NWSL, we are proud to welcome Caleb as a partner as we prepare for the 2026 inaugural season.”
