Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq close at fresh records as U.S. stocks score weekly gains

All three major U.S. stock indexes closed at all-time highs on Friday, booking weekly gains in the wake of the Federal Reserve’s decision to lower interest rates.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 172.85 points on Friday, or 0.4%, to end at 46,315.27.

The S&P 500 gained 32.40 points, or 0.5%, to finish at 6,664.36.

The Nasdaq Composite climbed 160.75 points, or 0.7%, to end at 22,631.48.

The S&P 500 index notched its 27th record closing peak of the year on Friday, clinching a third straight week of gains after the Fed decided on Wednesday to resume its rate-cutting cycle.
