A once-owned Dunkirk School building is now a mental health clinic.

The Post-Journal and OBSERVER have been analyzing real estate sales in Chautauqua County and recently looked at the transactions from Sept. 9-11.

During that time period, the Dunkirk City School District sold 88-92 E. Fourth St., Dunkirk to Bestself Properties, LLC of Buffalo for $160,000.

That building, commonly known as the Boorady Building, was formerly home to a school reading clinic. The building had sat empty for a few years.

In December of 2023 a public referendum was held for voters in the school district, approving the sale.

BestSelf Behavioral Health is a mental health clinic. It has clinics across Western New York.

According to its website, the Assertive Community Treatment operates out of the Dunkirk address. ACT is a fully mobile team of mental health professionals who provide a wide range of community-based treatment and rehabilitation services to individuals with serious and persistent mental illness.

The biggest financial sale during this time period was a residence, 4421 Lakeside Drive, Ellery which sold for $1,265,000.
