Some of the best golfers in the world head to the Bay Area this weekend, as the LPGA is set once again to host the annual Dow Championship in Midland.
Two weeks after the LPGA participated on the other side of the state, hosting the Meijer LPGA Classic just outside of Grand Rapids, many of the sport’s top athletes head to Midland for a different type of tournament.

Contrary to the traditional stroke play, where it’s every player for themselves, the Dow Championship sees players paired together in team match play, making it interesting to see how the competitors join forces to win the cash prize.
The defending champions are back to defend their title. Ruoning Yin and Jeeno Thitikul won last year’s tournament with a weekend score of 22-under par. In the five-year history of the event, formerly known as the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational, there has never been a repeat champion.
Former winners Jennifer Kupcho, Cheyenne Knight and Elizabeth Skozol are competing this weekend as well.
