A 64-year-old real estate agent from Mechanicville is accused of forging a signature on a contract to try and acquire property owned by a Halfmoon business.

State Police said Jean C. Maloney’s alleged actions would have resulted in the property being sold to her. However, the fraud was discovered before the sale went through and the title was not transferred, according to investigators.

Maloney is the owner of 21st Century Properties and Hanks Hollow Realty.

Maloney had tried to apply for a loan in September 2024 that falsely listed herself as the owner of the property in question, police said.

Maloney was charged with second-degree forgery, possession of a forged instrument, identity theft and falsifying business records. She was arraigned in Halfmoon Town Court and released on her own recognizance.
