Nuvoco Vistas Corporation, the cement arm of Karsanbhai Patel-led Nirmal, will invest ₹200 crore to increase its cement grinding capacity in eastern India by 4 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).
“It is proposed to install new grinding mill at Arasmeta Cement Plant (in Chattisgarh), supported by equipment upgrades, process improvements and internal debottlenecking initiatives at Jojobera (Jharkhand), Panagarh (West Bengal), and Odisha Cement plants in a phased manner,” the company told the exchanges. Phase-1 of this expansion, 1 mtpa will be added by the end of the third quarter of FY26, 2 mtpa to be added by FY26-end and 1 mtpa by FY27.
“Capacity enhancement at Jojobera, Panagarh and Odisha Cement plants will be achieved through equipment upgrades, process modifications and internal debottlenecking, thereby limiting the capital expenditure,” the company added.
Existing capacity
Following the acquisition of Vadraj Cements, the company’s existing capacity stands at 31 mtpa. The company had an average capacity utilisation of 78 per cent as of March-end. With the proposed three-phase enhancements, Nuvoco’s cement capacity in the East will rise by over 20 per cent within the next one-and-a-half years, increasing from 19 mtpa to 23 mtpa.
Jayakumar Krishnaswamy, Managing Director, Nuvoco Vistas Corp, said, “With cement demand in India estimated to grow at a CAGR of 7-8 per cent in FY26, we are well-placed for a growth trajectory in the long run. With the planned capacity enhancement, we are strategically increasing the share of blended cement, which will help us serve our customers with more sustainable choices.”
