Millions of Americans are to receive Social Security benefits later this week, as this month’s final round of payments is due to be sent out on Mar. 25.
Who’s receiving Social Security benefits on Wednesday, Mar. 25?
This Wednesday, Social Security payments are to be made to recipients born between 21st and 31st of any month. (NB: If you claim benefits based on someone else’s work record, that person’s date of birth applies – not yours.)
Mar. 25’s payment run is part of the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) three-Wednesdays benefits-distribution cycle.
Of the 70.8 million Americans who receive Social Security – be it retirement, disability or survivor benefits – most are paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month.
In March 2026, this birthday-dependent payment cycle is:
- Born on 1st to 10th of any month: Wed., Mar. 11
- Born on 11th to 20th of any month: Wed., Mar. 18
- Born on 21st to 31st of any month: Wed., Mar. 25
- Retired workers: $2,076.41/month
- Disabled workers: $1,633.76/month
- Survivors: $1,623.28/month

Who doesn’t get paid Social Security on a Wednesday?
- Certain long-term recipients: Tuesday, Mar. 3
Beneficiaries who signed up for Social Security before May 1997 are paid on the third of each month, regardless of date of birth.
- Dual recipients: Tuesday, Mar. 3
Social Security can be combined with Supplemental Security Income (SSI), a separate benefit for certain low-income individuals. These twin beneficiaries are also paid Social Security on the third of the month, no matter their birthday. (SSI typically goes out on the first.)
How does the Social Security Administration send out monthly benefits?
- Direct-deposit payment
Social Security beneficiaries can supply the SSA with their bank details using the agency’s online My Social Security tool.
- Direct Express Card
Benefits can be paid onto the Direct Express Card, a special debit card for federal disbursements. Sign up by calling 1-877-874-6347 or visiting GoDirect.gov.
