How are stock-index futures trading:
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures fell 104 points, or 0.24%, to 43,240
S&P 500 futures fell 14.5 points, or 0.24%, to 6,012.5
Nasdaq 100 futures fell 46 points, or 0.21%, to 21,652
U.S. stock index futures were lower early Monday in a sign markets might fail to rebound from the slump they fell into in the final two trading sessions of the Christmas holiday week that saw all three major stock indexes experience a dip.
On Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 334 points, or 0.77%, to 42,992, the S&P 500 declined 67 points, or 1.11%, to 5,971, and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 298 points, or 1.49%, to 19,722.
A sell-off of technology stocks on Friday put an end to the ‘Santa Rally’ that had started to emerge last week. Investors are now expecting a subdued end to 2024 before markets close for New Year’s Day on Wednesday, with just two trading sessions left this year.
Looking ahead to today, investors will be watching out for publication of the ISM’s monthly Chicago Business Barometer (PMI) and the National Association of Realtors pending home sales report.
