US stocks declined as cryptocurrencies resumed their slide and bond yields jumped after the Bank of Japan signaled it may soon tighten policy.
The S&P 500 dipped 0.3% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 Index was down 0.1% as of 12:39 p.m in New York, paring some of their earlier losses. The Cboe Volatility Index hovered at around 17. Synopsys Inc. was among the biggest gainers in the S&P 500 after Nvidia struck a deal to invest $2 billion into the chip-design software maker.
